Allie Riege, PsyD, LPC
About
Dr. Riege is a licensed professional counselor and post doctoral psychologist specializing in evidence-based treatment for anxiety, mood, and personality disorders. She earned her Doctor of Psychology from the University of Hartford’s Graduate Institute of Professional Psychology, where her dissertation focused on improving graduate training in diagnosing personality disorders within a dimensional framework.
Dr. Riege’s clinical experience spans diverse settings, including the Institute of Living at Hartford Hospital, college counseling centers, intensive outpatient programs, and private practice. She has worked extensively with clients across the lifespan, integrating psychodynamic approaches, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based interventions. Her work emphasizes relational depth, social connection, and holistic, multidisciplinary care.
In addition to her clinical expertise, Dr. Riege has experience in psychological assessment, group therapy facilitation, and research in attachment theory and the therapeutic relationship. She is passionate about clinician education, having taught and mentored graduate students, and is active in professional organizations such as the American Psychological Association and the Connecticut Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology.
Dr. Riege is passionate about many topics, including therapist development and supervision, psychodynamic theory and application, process groups, and the intersection of mindfulness and mental health. Dr. Riege was a dedicated group member in the first teaching cohort led by Dr. Puder and Dr. Stokes, and is thrilled to be facilitating a cohort enthusiastic about deepening their understanding of personality and psychopathology, and developing and enhancing psychotherapeutic skills for improved patient outcomes and professional well-being.
